Advisory
27 Dec, 2021
Since leaving the EU, UK Customs have allowed a relaxed approach to submitting import Customs declarations which included delayed declarations for non-controlled goods brought into Great Britain (England, Scotland & Wales) from the EU.
On 1 January 2022 full Customs controls will apply and there is no possibility to pass UK ports other than with a full import declaration.
What does it mean for you?
It means that all goods must be pre-lodged in the UK customs system before delivery into the UK.
To help you smoothly move your goods into the UK either by air, ocean, or road, please adhere to the below:
1. You must forward all relevant customs documents to us no later than two days before the expected pickup.
2. We will pre-lodge the required documents for timely delivery to the recipient.
3. Please have your customer in the UK complete the POA (Power of Attorney regarding the customs clearance) to prevent delays.
If you have any questions regarding the new UK customs rules or which documents to use, please reach out to your regular contact person today.
