SAS Cargo Group A/S Flies Cargo Only Charter for Scan Global Logistics

31 Mar, 2020

The ongoing restrictions on passenger airline flights between US and Europe have increased demand for alternative cargo solutions ensuring Scandinavian and US companies can maintain a steady flow of deliveries. Latest SAS Cargo and Scan Global Logistics (SGL) have joined forces and established a direct cargo charter flight out of Scandinavia to Chicago with scheduled departure 26th March from Stockholm

This flight provides a much-needed opportunity for Scandinavian companies to export cargo to US and back, ensuring the industrial wheels keep moving.

"Both SGL and SAS Cargo take our respective obligation to keep the wheels in motion very seriously on behalf of our many customers, allowing goods to continue to flow freely between Europe and US despite the current situation.

It was easy being two large Scandinavian companies, to agree on the idea of a cargo charter solution taking the opportunity to utilize non-operational passenger aircraft as a cargo flight, says Allan Melgaard, Group CEO at Scan Global Logistics. From the idea was conceived until the solution was ready didn´t take long. SAS Cargo acted quickly on the idea and arranged for a regular passenger aircraft to be used as a cargo charter.

“SAS is currently getting a lot of inquiries about ad-hoc flights for passengers and cargo. We are looking at these requests and prioritizing the traffic that is most needed to support both our society and our customers. It’s essential that we save businesses in these critical times by keeping global supply chains open”, says Leif Rasmussen, President & CEO SAS Cargo.
