Brand new ‘Polestar 2’ fully electric cars from China to Sweden.
The challenge
Our task, together with Polestar, was to transport nearly 40 of their brand new ‘Polestar 2’ fully electric cars from China to Sweden. The goal was to complete the task and close the case according to a tight time plan in order to meet Polestar’s deadline for confirmed test drive activities.
The long existing partnership with Polestar has held many challenges, but when the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world and interrupted all original plans for the on-time delivery, a new challenge was thrown at us. Challenge accepted. We now faced a situation where we really had to step outside the box and try to identify new alternative transport solutions to still be able to reach the deadline set from the customer, even though the conditions where turned upside down in these difficult times.
The solution
More than ever, we saw transparency, alignment, and our human approach as vital aspects and therefore communication and reconciliations were boosted resulting in daily contact. Both internally between our automotive teams in Gothenburg and Shanghai and externally towards Polestar. Despite lack of capacity on air freight, rising freight rates and several bottlenecks on the extremely tight schedule, alternative transportation modes, including truck and rail, were found to meet the on-time delivery with the time frame intact.
The result
Despite the unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic, all Polestar cars were delivered as planned for global test drive activities. The delivery has strengthened our partnership further and we are honored to be entrusted as Polestar’s logistics partner, helping them on their journey towards sustainable, avant-garde electric mobility.
