As a global freight forwarder, we are part of the transport and logistics sector which accounts for a significant share of global GHG emissions that contribute to climate change.

Therefore, we see it as our shared responsibility to find sustainable solutions to limit global warming. 

Accelerating our climate strategy
Our commitment to making the world a little less complicated guides our actions and efforts to help reduce our own and our customers' CO2 emissions.

With our approved science-based emissions reduction targets, we continue working hard to halve our emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.

We want to deliver impact through our low-carbon logistics solutions and decarbonise supply chains at speed and scale with our customers and business partners.

Science-based strategy

Commitments and targets

Scan Global Logistics has approved near-term science-based emissions reduction targets. We:

  • Commit to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year*.
  • Commit to reducing scope 3 GHG emissions from upstream transportation and distribution by 51.6% per tonne-km within the same timeframe*.

*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.

We are also a member of the Exponential Roadmap Initiative and the subgroup ‘1.5˚C Supply Chain Leaders’ reinforcing our commitment to halving emissions every decade reaching net-zero in 2050.

CO2 Neutral Website Certificate

This certificate confirms that we are a participant in the climate initiative "CO2 neutral websites".

The carbon emissions from both the website and the users of the website have been neutralized by the building of new renewable energy sources, various CO2 reducing projects and by the purchase of certified CO2 offsets, which are cleared by the relevant government institutions.

Our support of the UN Global Compact and SDGs 

Since 2015, we have been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, supporting the Compact’s ten principles and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To ensure our applied efforts have the most impact, we aim to realise two UN Sustainable Development Goals –  SDG 13 ‘Climate action’ and SDG 17 ‘Partnerships for the Goals’.

Partnerships are crucial to unlocking CO2 reductions across our value chain. In line with this, we enter into partnerships with like-minded companies willing to work together towards net-zero logistics solutions.

SGL offers customers an airfreight emission reduction of up to 80% by using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

The need to reduce airfreight emissions in the supply chain is growing faster than ever before. As part of its catalogue of CO2 reducing initiatives, SGL has extended its collaboration with Neste, the world's leading producer of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), to provide its customers with a low emission solution with the potential of reducing airfreight emissions by up to 80%*. The agreement supports SGL's target to halve its emissions by 2030 across all scopes.
