Awarded double ‘A’ rating by CDP – including top score for supplier engagement

CDP has awarded us a double ‘A’ rating in 2024 – the highest possible score – for both our performance in climate change and, most recently, supplier engagement. This recognition from the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform highlights our commitment to reducing emissions not only within our own operations but across the entire value chain we share with customers and partners.

Being included on CDP’s 2024 Supplier Engagement Leaderboard recognises companies that lead the way in working closely with suppliers to tackle climate change. As Martin Andersen, Global Head of Sustainability & ESG at Scan Global Logistics, explains:

Supply chain decarbonisation cannot happen in isolation. Earning CDP’s top Supplier Engagement rating shows that our collaborative approach with logistics partners is recognised. By aligning supplier strategies with customer climate targets, we are building low-emission value chains that support our shared global climate goals.

CDP evaluated over 22,700 companies in 2024, and we are among the select few to achieve an ‘A’ rating in the Supplier Engagement Assessment. This recognises our ability to drive emissions reductions beyond our own carbon footprint, across all modes of transport and every partnership.

Our Supplier Engagement rating is based on four key areas:

  • Governance
  • Scope 3 emissions management
  • Target setting
  • Supply chain collaboration

Climate action across the value chain

By working closely with suppliers and customers, we deliver scalable, low-carbon logistics solutions that can reduce transport emissions by up to 98% today. Our approach to decarbonising global supply chains is grounded in close collaboration, transparent data, and shared ambition – all supported by our validated science-based target to limit global warming to 1.5˚C.

A testament to ESG leadership

Achieving a double ‘A’ rating from CDP reflects our robust environmental strategy, our commitment to transparent ESG reporting, and the strength of our emissions reduction initiatives. It reinforces our integrated approach to governance, risk management, and scenario analysis – and confirms our commitment to accelerating climate action across the full value chain.

Together with our partners and customers, we will continue to uncomplicate logistics, drive tangible progress, and contribute to building a more sustainable logistics industry.

Achieving net-zero target approval from the SBTi

We are proud to announce that on Monday, July 29, 2024, our long-term and net-zero targets for 2050 were approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as one of only a few companies within the logistics industry. The approval means that SBTi confirms our efforts to achieve our targets align with the 1.5°C trajectory from the Paris agreement to reach net zero by 2050 or sooner. To new and existing customers with SBTi targets, the approval ensures a partnership with a leading sustainable logistics provider in decarbonising their supply chain.

Pamatek purchases ocean biofuel for all their projected needs in 2024

Many companies aim to reduce their CO2 emissions to achieve their climate targets. At the beginning of the year, our long-standing customer, Danish Pamatek, purchased ocean biofuel for all their expected ocean freight from China in 2024 upfront. Their decision is a commitment to reducing their ocean freight emissions by 100%, and in doing so, they will also benefit from avoiding the EU ETS surcharge on ocean freight. Their commitment confirms that CO2-neutral transport is becoming increasingly crucial for competition.
