Scan Global Logistics Pulls Together for Special Olympics Illinois at O’Hare Plane Pull 2026

On September 26, the Scan Global Logistics (SGL) Chicago team lined up on the tarmac at O’Hare International Airport, grabbed the rope, and pulled a United Airlines 737 12 feet in just 9 seconds – all in support of Special Olympics Illinois.

The annual O’Hare Plane Pull brings teams together to test their strength and teamwork in the ultimate tug-of-war challenge while raising funds for Special Olympics Illinois programs and athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state.

At SGL, pulling together toward a common goal is simply how we operate. That made the event a natural fit – and one we were proud to support as both a sponsor and participant.

For our Chicago team, the challenge also came with a few familiar ingredients: planes, teamwork, and close coordination. Sixteen colleagues joined forces to take on the 737, turning the collaboration they rely on every day into a very different kind of team effort.

This is a great example of how our people embrace challenges, support one another, and have fun while making a difference in the communities where we live and work.

- Will Waldron, Regional Vice President – Midwest at Scan Global Logistics.

Together, the 120 participating teams raised more than $230,000 for Special Olympics Illinois, helping support programs and opportunities for athletes throughout Illinois.
